1000 Latrobe has seen the installation of the first of two sculpture features on the project’s north side and entry lobby.
In preparation for the sculpture's arrival from Perth, the team poured a slab with the provision for cast in U bolts. Upon arrival, the 2200kg aluminium spray-painted sculpture was lifted into position by a 90T mobile crane and positioned and fixed to base plates, embedded within the exposed aggregate footpath.
The sculpture’s steel base has now been detailed and waterproofed, with power integration. The feature is planned to be in operation between sunset and sunrise every day, programmed as part of the project’s specialist lighting package.
Set for completion in the second half of 2021, the 40,000m2 A-grade office building will provide over 1000 construction jobs for Melbournians and define the Digital Harbour precinct.
