When do applications open and close?

Applications open early in your final year of study. So graduates wanting to work with us in 2020, need to apply in early 2019. 

What is the selection criteria for applicants?

When applying through our online application portal, typically you will be required to provide basic information about yourself that includes: a cover letter, resume, and an academic transcript, as well as answer some behavioural questions. This year, we are also introducing video applications - so we can get to know our potential Grads even better. 

Make sure your resume includes relevant work experience and extra-curricular activities you have undertaken. Think of real examples for the behavioural questions, so that you can explain why a situation occured and what you did about it. 

Selection is based on a myriad criteria such as: leadership skills, motivation, relevant work experience, academic achievements and extracurricular activities.

Please note candidates need typically be enrolled in an Australian Institute of Building accredited course and hold a relevant working visa. 

What learning and development opportunities are offered to graduates and cadets?

There is a wide and exciting range of learning and development opportunities offered to both graduates and cadets alike. These includes, but are not limited to:

  • Leadership and personal development training, including an annual leadership camp
  • On the job training
  • Rotation through relevant modules of the business
  • Factory and site visits
  • Interstate opportunities
  • Graduate camp

Are there opportunities to work interstate?

Yes! Probuild is a national company, operating in Victoria, NSW, QLD and WA. There are great opportunities for graduates to work in any or all of these states.

Do I get to choose which projects I work on?

Our projects are spread across various locations and we assign graduates to projects based on resourcing and needs of the team. We will however take into consideration staff’s home location and any desires to work on a specific project.


We also offer a select number of Cadet positions at Probuild. 

Positions are for students who, at the time of commencing with us, have completed three years of study in an accredited AIB course and would like to take a full year out to work in the construction industry. 

Applications open and close at the same time as Graduate positions. Be sure to be clear in your application that you are applying for a Cadet position.

Junior Supervisor Program

In 2017 we introduced our Junior Supervisor Program. This program specifically targets potential Senior Supervisors and Site Managers. The program runs concurrently with the graduate program, but attracts candidates from fields other than university degrees. 

We look for people who have completed an apprenticeship, have worked in the construction industry for a few years, who show strong leadership potential and are enthusiastic about a career with a Tier-1 builder.

We typically recruit Junior Supervisors early in the year to commence three-six months later.
