RMIT, Advanced Manufacturing Precinct
The RMIT Advanced Manufacturing Precinct project (RMIT City Campus) consists of major alterations, a new top level extension, and new fit-out in an existing building at the corner of Queensberry and Cardigan St, Carlton.
The existing building external brick and lower level concrete superstructure largely remains, but internally the existing structure is modified and fit-out is totally removed. The 4th level is extended to cover the whole building site, but on its own separate structure built up from the Level 1 Basement level. A new 4 level lift is installed, together with new mechanical, electrical, hydraulics and fire protection services. The 4th level extension superstructure is steel framed and clad in modern Danpalon material, a new roof is installed over the whole building. The facility created is a mix of educational and industrial environs, to be used by RMIT for the teaching of manufacturing and industrial skills.
