Kangan Batman Institute of Tafe – Automotive Centre of Excellence

The $50 million Automotive Centre of Excellence Stage 2 building facility designed by Gray Puksand is an educational facility as part of the extension to Stage 1 Kangan Institute for Motor Mechanics.  The building involves a highly complex façade which is made up of a number of different disciplines including aluminium framed windows with performance glazing to achieve greenstar requirements; motorised glazed louvres controlled by BMS; aluminium fixed and motorised louvres controlled by BMS;  alpolic cladding; vitra panel; trespa panel; spandek; glazed fold up doors and polycarbonate sheet.
The development includes two levels of staff offices and theory or class rooms on the first and third floors, and workshops on the ground and second Floors.
The services are highly specified and exposed.  This involves extensive coordination with all trades.  Finishes are intricate and detailed.  Additionally, the project has been designed to achieve a 5 star Greenstar rating.
The KBIT ACE project is scheduled to be completed on time in July 2011.
