Tarrawarra Museum of Art

The strikingly contemporary design for Australia's first privately funded public art gallery is in harmony with its site within a vineyard in the Yarra Valley.

The gallery is set into a hillside and features sweeping curved external walls of mainly rammed earth construction. There are three large exhibition spaces, with a wine tasting area and cafe attached, and a multi-radii circular administration tower.

Construction was completed in September 2003, on time and within budget.
